Lopez Islander Resort

We loved being so close to the main village, right off the main road. Our room had a beautiful view, and it was spotless and thoughtfully set up, with silver cutlery, plenty of towels, and an extra pillow. Having a TV, fridge, and freezer together was a nice surprise. The pool, hot tub, and attached restaurant made relaxing and getting meals easy. The front desk staff were friendly, the room was lovely, and the price felt reasonable. We had an excellent stay at Lopez Islander Resort and Marina and would highly recommend it for a visit to Lopez Island.

I’ve stayed at the Islander Marina three times in two years, hoping each visit that things had improved. They haven’t, and I won’t return at the rates they’re asking. My complaint is about the marina, not the resort itself. The setting at the Islander is fabulous, and the resort feels like a clean time capsule, with good food, good service, and convenient access to town. But the marina is a disaster. Half the 40-foot slips need complete makeovers and are marginally safe at best. There’s no pump-out, hoses or power extensions on the docks, staff there, or garbage disposal. My 45-foot boat cost $140 a night, the highest rate in the San Juan Islands, more than Roche, which is fully equipped and professionally staffed. I could live with those shortcomings at around $60, though even then I’d be disappointed by the dock’s quality and safety. Port Ludlow’s docks are in much better shape and being renovated. I recently stayed at a wonderful dock in Eagle Harbor for $53, with a great dock, water, power, and a great pump-out. The Islander is a distant marina experience compared with Friday, Roche, Anacortes, and Deer. It’s not worth the money and has been a consistent disappointment for me. I can’t comment on Rosario, since I haven’t been there in years for similar reasons.

We really enjoyed our stay! The restaurant food was tasty, the staff were amazing, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Such a wonderful place.

The harbor is nicely protected, and this is our favorite spot in the San Juans. The resort staff are always friendly and helpful, and it has all the amenities you could ask for. We love the excellent restaurant, and dancing to the live bands on weekends is a favorite.
