Beverly Hills Marriott

We had a nice time despite spending much of our stay away from the hotel. It was close to urth cafe, philz coffee, plenty of good restaurants, and tourist spots. The concierge at the front desk and the restaurant staff were kind, and my mom and I enjoyed ourselves. The room was clean and updated, with very comfortable beds. I slept like a baby. But there was no bathroom fan, which felt cheap for Beverly Hills, and a bottle of water was $13. The complimentary wifi was nearly unusable. I normally have no trouble using my laptop and iPhone on hotel wifi, but here it kept interrupting. I could get YouTube to play a couple of times, but even at the lowest streaming setting it was hard to watch. I was glad I had brought a book. The TVs also didn't work properly, so we couldn't watch on-demand shows. As a recent interior design graduate, I noticed some choices that seemed like cost cutting. The lobby area by the elevators was dim and confusing, and a dividing pillar blocked the elevators for no apparent reason. For a short visit this could be a good place, but I wouldn't stay here if I had work to do. Hopefully the wifi trouble was a rare thing, because it was unacceptable. I've stayed at Marriotts in other parts of the States and this wasn't consistent with those experiences. If you want luxury, look elsewhere.

Matthew, Kevin and Mike are the main reason I'd tell people to choose this hotel when visiting LA. They're empathetic, honest, respectful and sincere, and they're the first people I think of when I talk about the place. The hotel itself is very good as well, with clean rooms, halls and gym. I'm especially grateful to all three of them.

The room was clean, nicely updated and comfortable, and the staff made the whole visit wonderful. Everyone was friendly and caring, from the doormen and receptionists to the bartenders. They all went out of their way to help and make sure I was taken care of. I can't say enough good things about the experience.

The hotel was pretty nice, and the location worked well, around a 15-minute walk to Beverly Hills. The lounge let me down, though. There wasn't much food to choose from, and most of the dinner options seemed to be frozen. Valet was the biggest frustration. At $70 a night it felt very expensive, and whenever I asked for my car, I still had to wait several minutes for it to arrive.
