Emerald bar/resturant was a highlight for us. The bartender and waiter handled both the bar and restaurant tables exceptionally well, the food was delicious, and the room felt relaxing. It was extremely cold, though. We paid more for the executive queen suite, but after asking to see the king suites, we found the cheaper room with the larger bed was better value. The main difference was a wall between the bedroom and living area. The staff kindly arranged the viewing and helped us change rooms. If you’re a Tier member, be aware that despite my Gold status, I got no front desk acknowledgement, upgrade, or recognition in the room. I also left a note saying it was the last night of a lovely four-week holiday and hoping to make it special, but that wasn’t acknowledged either, and there was no gesture or gift. The hotel itself is beautifully renovated, with spacious, cozy rooms and soft, comfortable bedding. There’s a nice area to walk around, and high-end shopping is about a 15-minute stroll away. The staff are kind and accommodating. Rooms facing the road don’t have double-glazed windows, so traffic noise echoes inside. You can also hear the neighbors very clearly. It’s a well thought out hotel, and I would stay again and recommend it. Just keep the downsides in mind if you’re picky about your stay.
I have meetings in Lawndale regularly, about 30 minutes away. There are several Marriott brand hotels closer, but the Burton House is so much better that it’s become my usual hotel. The rooms are nice, housekeeping is good, and it’s also well placed for WeHo.
Really comfortable room, and we enjoyed the hotel bar. Great hotel overall. The parking height may be a problem if your car is over 6'6''. My Denali hit the marker, but luckily its air suspension lowered enough for it to clear the garage.
The suite we got was clean and modern, with three rooms: a king bedroom, a queen bedroom, and a main room with a kitchen and living area. It had a full-size fridge, which I appreciated, and two full bathrooms with showers. The rooms themselves are nice. The service, though, was poor and unwelcoming. I asked for complimentary water the day after check-in and was told they only sell it. When I said I hadn’t received any at check-in, they still refused to give me any. That was especially frustrating as an ambassador elite member at an expensive hotel. That interaction alone brought my rating down to two stars. The hotel is in the Beverly Hills area, a short drive from Santa Monica or downtown LA, but expect traffic in the mornings and afternoons. Parking is difficult, and self parking costs $65 per night or valet is $69. The gym is tiny, though the equipment is fairly new. Only one of the two slow elevators goes to the gym, which can be confusing when you don’t know which one is coming. Decent hotel, but the service really let it down.
Karina and the housekeeping team deserve special thanks. During an already stressful, emotional trip to see my brother after his terminal pancreatic and liver cancer diagnosis, I rushed out at 5 a.m. to visit him before catching a flight and left my wedding ring on the bathroom counter. I only realized as I was heading to the airport, with little time to spare, and panicked. I couldn’t reach the front desk, but Karina in group sales stepped in right away, coordinated with housekeeping, and texted me updates as I drove back. Thanks to their honesty, my ring was safely recovered. Their compassion and professionalism meant a lot. I’d picked the hotel for its strong ratings and closeness to Cedars-Sinai. From the beginning, it was exceptionally clean and the staff were welcoming. One evening I had pizza and a glass of wine at the bar. The food was good, and the bartender made me feel at home with friendly conversation. She told me about “Beverly,” the robot that delivers items to rooms. I manage a hotel myself, so I found that really interesting.
