Hampton Inn Los Angeles Sherman Oaks

Construction was going on during our visit, and getting in and out of the location was inconvenient. The staff weren't rude, but didn't come across as friendly or welcoming either. This fell well short of what I expect from Hampton. On our second full day, nobody cleaned the room or replaced the towels. Breakfast was below average for the brand. Check-in was confusing, and the front desk wasn't very helpful. Some things they'd said they'd do weren't followed through on. I still don't know which account was charged for my payment, and when I called to ask, they told me to try again later instead of helping then. We were staying under a conference group rate. When I extended by one night, they wouldn't give me that same rate, which was frustrating and felt inconsistent.

The room was clean and looked recently renovated, and the staff managed to make things work despite the renovations. I stayed because, when I asked to cancel within the allowed window, nobody could approve it without a manager who wouldn't be in until the next day. The noise was awful. Traffic came through the in-wall HVAC, which was already loud on its own, and it kept gurgling and struggling. The shower had a wide spray, but it seemed like flushing a toilet made the water pressure drop. The bed also felt like it might break when we moved.

I booked this for an executive who was visiting for a few days, and the stay went smoothly from check-in to checkout. The front office team was welcoming and attentive, and the location made getting around really convenient. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well kept, with a warm, relaxing feel throughout. I'd book here again and recommend it for the hospitality and location, including as a meet-up spot.

The hotel ended up being the highlight of my California trip, even with renovations underway. I hardly noticed the work, and the service was excellent from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping. They made me feel welcome and valued. I'd gladly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Coming from Kansas City, Missouri, after we'd had 4 to 5 inches of snow, traveling to California brought its own challenges. Mr. Athnasious at the front desk deserves a big shoutout. He did everything he could to make my stay wonderful. He's a saint, and I really appreciate him.
