We love living here. The lobby, courtyard, and views are stunning, and the place feels luxurious. It’s a beautiful old building, and if you love history, you’ll love being here. The neighbors are quiet and nice, interesting people, and the neighborhood is wonderful. Donna is exceptionally attentive. When something breaks, she usually sends help right away, and she responds quickly. Eswin always fixes things. I’ve accidentally locked myself out three or four times and got help instantly. The lobby and security staff are attentive, protect things like cars for the most part, and our packages are safe. The building is about 100 years old, so things do sometimes break. The elevator is one of the oldest in Los Angeles and occasionally goes out. I have a lot of anxiety about elevators, but I always feel safe in it. It resets after a minute if it breaks and takes you to the right floor. That feels like a minor issue to me. We love this building and feel lucky we found it. Highly recommend!

I moved to Los Altos more than five years ago, planning to buy a house in the area. I got so attached to the residents and the building that I never want to leave. Later I became the manager, and I can honestly say I’m living a dream. The building’s Old Hollywood history still draws historians who want to be part of its glamour, including its past residents Bette Davis, Marion Davies, Mae West and William R Heasrt. The apartments are among the finest available in Los Angeles, and the residents’ love for the place and sense of community are why they stay. Los Altos is truly one of LA’s best kept secrets. Come visit and fall in love!

After the first year, they raised our rent by hundreds of dollars and then tried to keep our entire deposit of more than $2,500. We had to fight to get some of it back because of ridiculous fees. Now we’re in a 1,600-square-foot, two-bedroom apartment next to the Grove for a fraction of what we paid for a one-bedroom place here that was under 900 square feet.

I was unsure about this apartment at first. Then someone told me there’s a kitchen... in the kitchen!
