The room was the worst part of a stay that left me feeling neither safe nor comfortable. After driving six hours from San Francisco, I reached Los Angeles around 6:00 AM on February 14th, hoping for a clean place to rest during a few days in town. The exterior looked nice, and the older valet gentleman was polite when he took our car. Inside, though, the room was filthy: there was visible mold partly hidden by wallpaper, a dead fly, and a bathroom that didn't look properly cleaned. I told the manager right away. I wanted to switch rooms, but he offered a discount on the resort fee instead. Exhausted, I took a short nap and decided to go elsewhere. I had told the front desk manager I was unhappy and planned to check out at 12:00 PM, and he agreed. But while my girlfriend and I were showering, the door suddenly opened and that same manager came in with another person trying to enter. When I confronted him in the lobby, he said, “I believe I knocked.” He hadn't, and the unexpected entry felt like a serious breach of our privacy and safety. Two other guests told me they'd had similar problems. A hotel should be clean, comfortable, and safe, and Luxe Sunset Boulevard missed on all three. It may look upscale outside, but the room and management felt more like an overpriced motel. I can't recommend it. Not clean, not safe, not worth it.

I was pushed to sign paperwork without time to read it, with a promise that my deposit would be returned. It wasn't. That added to an already deceptive-feeling stay, and I plan to take the matter further. The hotel also charged a $40 per night “facility fee” after my stay, without disclosing it beforehand. It was supposedly for amenities that were mostly unavailable, on top of an already outrageous $200 per night rate. Neither the hotel nor the rooms seemed remotely worth that price. I've never had an experience like this, and guests should be very careful with any paperwork they're asked to sign. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The room was noisy from the highway and a party next door, and it was on the first floor right by the lobby. We paid more than $400 for one night in an Executive Junior Suite, so that wasn't what we expected. My husband had booked after a friend described the hotel as luxury, but its name feels misleading when it's beside a busy intersection with traffic all day and night. The hotel didn't seem busy enough that they couldn't have put us in a quieter building farther from the road. The photos on their website show what looks like the Executive Junior Suite in a different building. We won't consider this motel again and wouldn't recommend it to friends. Disappointed. Management, it would be nice if staff asked guests which building they'd prefer when the hotel isn't in high demand.

For work, it did the job and was convenient, but the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel doesn't feel especially luxurious. My room was a good size, though it looked tired and dated. The bar food was average and not memorable. It's functional enough for a business trip if you want somewhere comfortable to stay, just don't expect a high-end experience.

We hardly left the Luxe Hotel during our last-minute weekend trip. My wife and I picked it at random, and I'm glad we did. Our Deluxe Room had a huge balcony and a fun vibe we both liked. The staff were friendly, and the food was amazing. Great atmosphere, too. Such a good weekend away.
