Noon on Sunset Hill

The common area is really nice, and the bathroom was spacious and quite luxurious. Rooms were clean but a little small, with very poor lighting. The location is prime, right on Sunset Blvd, within walking distance of bars and restaurants, and you can walk to Dodger Stadium too. If stairs are difficult for you, this place won't work.

We slept well and found the room comfortable, though we could hear people walking upstairs. The in-room fridge was handy for snacks, and we used the communal kitchen a couple of times without seeing anyone. It would be nice if the kitchen had a few basics like salt. We spent most of our time exploring and had no trouble with the neighbourhood, despite worrying about it after reading reviews. We parked behind the property when we arrived and liked being so near Echo Park and Silver Lake. There were lots of good restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and getting the bus downtown was straightforward. An enjoyable, reasonably priced place for a few days in LA.

The photos make this look pretty and nice, but in person it felt like a fake Instagram hotel. The room needs updating and wasn't clean, with hair from previous guests in the shower and bathroom. Outside, we didn't feel safe: homeless people were around our car both days, and the route to the hotel didn't feel safe either. Of course there are a lot of junks and homeless people throughout LA, but we didn't expect them around the hotel. It was noisy on the street, with a dog barking both nights, and the walls were so thin we could hear all the neighbors. The pictures make the place look amazing, but that's not what it's really like.

The bathroom and shower were really nice, and I liked the second-level patio. Echo Park is walkable too. I booked this at the last minute for a work trip, and it wasn't quite what I expected, though it was okay, not great or terrible. The room was very small. I didn't see anyone in the communal area. The wall AC couldn't cool the room enough for me, but it was comfortable. I was lucky to find parking in back because there are lots of stairs, including even more from the front, and I had heavy luggage. Not really my kind of place.
