Super 8 by Wyndham North Hollywood

Sudesh made check-in quick, easy, and welcoming, and the parking was great. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and quiet, and North Hollywood is a great location. Breakfast was lovely, with coffee, bagels, waffles, toast, cereal, fruit, and oats. Really good value. We'd recommend it and stay again.

I was really happy with my stay and will come back next time work brings me to the area. I've paid twice as much elsewhere and gotten far less. At Ramada, it was $160, I had to walk to the lobby for a microwave, and a school-cafeteria-sized carton of milk cost $8.50. Crazy. Thanks, Super 8, for a great stay.

I was left outside in cold rain twice, despite having a room booked and paid for. The first time was at 3:30 a.m. on my birthday. I'm in a wheelchair, had all my things with me, and my ride had just dropped me off. The manager said I needed a $200 cash deposit, though the website hadn't mentioned one and hotels usually hold a card instead. I couldn't get to a bank until morning. He wouldn't take my card or work anything out, and rudely left me there. I slept outside that night, then got the deposit money the next day and booked again. The website showed rooms available. As I rolled up to the front door, the same person came out yelling that there were no rooms, and wouldn't even check his computer for my reservation. I had more bags this time, and on New Year's Eve a Lyft would take a while. It was still cold and raining. While I waited under the canopy after we'd exchanged some choice words, he came back out and threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. My ride took me back to where I'd spent the night before, behind a 7-11 under a small overhang beside a pizza shop. The next day I got a four-day room at the Best Western in Van Nuys because I was getting sick and shivering from the cold. The staff there were wonderful, and the room was excellent.

I had a stressful stay and would avoid this motel. They wanted a $200 cash deposit and sent me to find an ATM. Most nearby liquor stores didn't have one, so I drove about half a mile to the nearest bank. They also charged me twice. I caught it by checking my transactions every other day, and after reading reviews, it seems others have had the same issue. I'm having trouble getting my money back while my bank investigates.
