Olivia Hotel

Breakfast was a real standout, especially for a budget friendly hotel. Two items and a drink are included, and you can pay to add food or upgrade the drink without it being outrageous. The courtyard was lovely to sit in, and while parking can be a little tricky, it wouldn’t cost the place a star from me. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. The two front desk people I dealt with were both friendly and great. I know it was probably renovated from a motel, but that didn’t matter to me. I’m picky after working in the hotel industry at Marriott, and I honestly can’t think of anything bad to say. I’d stay here again next time we’re in LA.

The shower was AMAZING, and the location was solid. I’d stay here again, though I was really bothered to find an opened box of condoms in the nightstand drawer. The complimentary water was a nice thought, but it tasted like tap water, only warmer. At first I thought this was one of the nicest hotel rooms I’d stayed in. It had a ceiling shower head, a tempting mini bar, and automatic retractable curtains. But the thermostat was set to Celsius and German, so it took me a while to sort it out. The TV only lets you cast content, with no basic cable, so without a casting device you can’t watch anything. I usually put on rain noises with the TV, and here I had to choose between the two. I didn’t really use the free breakfast, so can’t comment on it. The complimentary can of beer or glass of wine at happy hour was a nice touch.

Just across the street from the Los Angeles Temple, so the location was great for visiting there. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the courtyard with its flower boxes was lovely. The complimentary breakfast had fun options like quiche, French toast, and berry parfait. It was a bit pricey, though maybe that was because it was Memorial Day weekend.

We loved the happy hour, and breakfast in the courtyard followed by relaxing at the fire pit at night made for a fun, laid-back stay. The only downside was the busy roads nearby, which made things a little noisy at times. The Olivia Hotel has become one of my favorite places. 10/10, would recommend!
