Hilton Garden Inn Louisville Downtown

A family emergency stretched my planned three-night stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Louisville into a week. Each time I came back needing a room, the staff found a way to accommodate me, which meant a lot during a difficult time. Kat and Kevin made check-in easy and welcomed me warmly, and the valet team was quick, courteous, and ready to help. I also really enjoyed the on-site restaurant, 8-Up. The menu was limited, but everything I tried was excellent. The brick-fired pizza was crisp and flavorful, and the smash burger with French fried onions was a standout. I'd come back just to eat there. My room was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully supplied with a mini bar, a couple of water bottles, a Keurig, and a good selection of tea and coffee. The breakfast buffet and complimentary fresh coffee made mornings easier. The hotel gave me a comfortable place to stay and a real sense of care and hospitality when the week was hard. I highly recommend it for comfort, service, and good food.

The bathtub drains were slow, and we had fruit flies in the room even though there was nothing there to attract them. Still, I would recommend the hotel and stay again. The rooms were good, and the location is handy, just a block from The Seelbach Hotel and 4th Street Live. The friendliest part was the staff. Ask for Dina, she was amazing!

The bathroom and bedding were already a mess when we arrived just after 1 p.m. on 9/17/25. Our friend’s sheet had dirt and stains, the toilet seat still had visible urine from a previous guest, and we found only one bar of soap and barely any shower gel. The alarm clock was upside down, the room didn’t match the one shown online, and the drinks and snacks included with our booking weren’t there. Renee apologized, was accommodating, and told us we could pick up the drinks and snacks at the store each day. She also called housekeeping. The housekeeper who came to the door handed me a mattress protector to put on the bed instead of fixing it herself, then brought another mostly used bottle of shower gel. I asked for two sets of sheets and a bar of soap, but she was busy on a personal call, walked away, and never came back. She left the dirty sheet in place. When housekeeping later came to clean the toilet, she started touching my pillows with gloved hands. I asked her to stop. This is just crazy. Cleanliness is the most important thing to me in a hotel, and I’ve usually been happy to pay more to stay loyal to Hilton for a consistent experience. I normally have no problem with this brand, but this was by far the worst stay I’ve had with them. We’re deeply disappointed. The hotel doesn’t seem to have enough reliable, caring housekeeping staff or resources for guests. This wasn’t hygienic, pleasant, comfortable, or safe. Please do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. Renee and the front desk staff were amazing, and I’m grateful for her customer service and support. I felt bad having to keep calling her with requests, since I know this wasn’t her fault.

The rooms were lovely and the hotel felt modern. We arrived late, so the food choices were limited. The bar and grill next door was packed and really loud, with a quiz night going on, so we found somewhere else nearby to eat. On the other nights we ate at the hotel, the food was very good.
