Hilton Garden Inn Lubbock

I used to love this place and have stayed here on visits to Lubbock since around 2020, during COVID. On November 15, 2025, I returned after about seven months away. The staff at the desk were very nice, and I’ve always liked the hotel’s location near a shopping center. But the cleanliness was a letdown compared with my earlier stays. I knew daily room cleaning had to be requested and did ask for it. The beds were made and fresh towels left each day, but the sheets weren’t changed during the 3-4 days. The lobby floor had dried, sticky splatters that stayed there throughout my visit, even though wet floor signs appeared. In my room, wallpaper was peeling, there was mold around the tub, a ring from some kind of fluid was left on the bedskirt, and the floor had crumbs and hadn’t been vacuumed. There were also splatters on the ceiling in two places. This was a big change from before, and I think I’ll need to find somewhere else for future visits.

This stay was far below what I expect from Hilton, a brand I’ve usually preferred. The property felt close to shutting down, and I hope this account helps other travelers decide. The website photos, including a pool that doesn’t exist, looked little like the actual facilities. There was no breakfast, and only up to two complimentary bottles of water per stay; extras cost money. In the bathroom, the old, dirty fixtures and trickling hot water made showering unpleasant. It was cold in there, with no heat or exhaust fan. The toilet flush made an extremely loud, almost monstrous roar, and I worried it would disturb other guests. The bedsheets seemed low quality and built up static constantly. They crackled whenever I moved, and when I pulled them back in the dark, the sparks were bright and startling. Sound insulation was poor too. I could hear footsteps from the room above and they often woke me at night. I’d advise travelers to look at other options.

Gene at Front Desk gave exceptional service. We had two clean rooms, one mobility room and one regular room, though unfortunately they weren’t on the same floor. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the shower was nice, and the shampoo, body wash, and lotion were high quality. I’ll definitely stay here again.

A firepit by the lobby entrance came in handy during the January 2026 cold snap. There’s also a stretch of dirt road just west of the hotel, which is a fun spot for early morning mudding if you have a 4x4 rental.
