Wingate by Wyndham Lubbock near Texas Tech Univ. Medical Ctr

The general manager didn’t provide quality service, and that set the tone for the whole hotel. I’ve worked in hospitality, and it’s clear to me this place runs below the bare minimum. During one of Lubbock’s busiest periods they were short staffed, and the personnel weren’t presentable. The bathrooms weren’t cleaned, the carpet was dingy, and there were torn towels in the room. The pool was neglected and lacked proper supplies, and pillows and towels weren’t readily available. I won’t return.

Our high school golf team stayed here. The rooms were clean and breakfast was good. Today we got a call that one of the golfers had left a few things in her room. When we came back, the GM Rudy met us with a smile and had everything ready for pickup. Thanks for a great stay!

The location worked really well for us, with everywhere we wanted to go no more than a 10-minute drive away. This was our second stay, and I’d come back again. The staff were really nice, the rooms pretty clean, and breakfast was good. My one complaint is the pool: the hot tub was really dirty. The pool is heated, but it still felt cold to me since I’m cold natured. I’d rate the hotel 4 out of 5.

The price was clearly bumped up for graduation weekend, and it really didn’t feel worth it. Breakfast was poor, with soggy eggs and tater tots and a toaster that wouldn’t work. The bed was uncomfortable, and I’ve never had worse pillows or towels at a hotel. The room was dusty, the floors hadn’t been vacuumed, and there were crumbs on the ironing board. The shower floor and showerhead both looked moldy, the bathroom vent was disgusting, and the water pressure was barely there. There’s even a hole in the second-floor hallway floor under the carpet. You can feel it when you step there. It seemed like the owner cared more about cutting costs and making money than guests’ experience. The whole place was at least a little dirty.
