La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lubbock South

The room had been updated, was clean, and had no smell. We slept well on the comfortable beds. The trash inside and outside was nearly overflowing, though things still seemed clean overall. The person who checked us in was defensive and rude when we asked a question, which felt unwelcoming and unnecessary. Still, we were pleased with the stay. Thank you.

Everything else was Gucci, so I’d stay again, but there was some laziness from the hotel. The in-house store needed restocking. The door near my room was broken, so I couldn't park by it and had to park elsewhere, then walk to the far end of the hall. Instead of fixing it, they left a note on the window about how to open it. I could hear other people struggling with it from my room. Just fix the door.

The room was comfortable and the location made getting around easy. Still, a few small things gave the impression that La Quinta isn't as good as it used to be. I completed online check-in, then had to write the same information on paper when I arrived. There was no bar soap, just a small tube of body wash, and no hair dryer in the room. I didn't ask the desk, so maybe one was available. Breakfast had fewer choices than usual: an employee said she had forgotten to order yogurt, there was very little fruit, and no decaf coffee.

The hotel was clean, and breakfast was good. We had no hot water, though they fixed it after about 30 minutes. The kids were disappointed that the pool was only 2 1/2 feet deep.
