The kids loved the pool, and the spa was a nice treat for us adults. Both were clean, well kept, and working. The hotel also had a relaxed, safe feeling that made traveling with children much easier, and it was clear families are a priority. Our room was clean and comfortable, the whole property seemed well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back. It seems like a great family choice for comfort, cleanliness, and amenities.

We were only passing through and needed somewhere to sleep for about seven hours. We arrived well after midnight, exhausted from a full day on the road with dogs and kids, so we didn’t have the energy to leave. People were partying loudly and smoking in the parking lot until around 4am. Someone in our group spotted a roach in one room, and since I’d already put the suitcases on the floor, I quickly moved them up. At our destination, we found at least two very large cockroaches had come along in our luggage. There were several of us traveling with dogs, and we appreciated being accommodated with two connecting rooms on the ground floor. But one room’s A/C had no knob, so we couldn’t tell the setting or temperature. We left the door between the rooms open and relied on the other unit to cool both. The common areas were humid and warm, and without a bathroom exhaust fan, showering left the room sticky and humid. I’m thankful it was just one night. This was my first stay at a Red Roof, and I don’t think I’ll stay at one again. There are plenty of other pet-friendly options that aren’t disgusting.

I used to stay at Red Roof Inn when it was decent, but the place has really gone downhill and I won’t return. Staff told me the elevator on the north side has been out of order for two years. The one thing going for it is that dogs stay free, but it’s not worth it to me; I’d rather pay to bring mine somewhere else. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, though there are two who aren’t. Still, it’s not a good hotel to stay at.

The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. There were no roaches or bedbugs around me, and I liked the indoor sitting area with its little waterfall river. I also liked the sports bar next door, the old-school “welcome to Lubbock Texas” banner inside on both sides, and the indoor pool. I hope they keep that banner as part of Lubbock Texas tradition. They also gave us water and mixed chips. Still, this first stay at a Red Roof Inn, in Lubbock Texas, wasn’t what I expected. The water in the toilet was way too high, and they really need new toilets and towels. The towels were so bad to dry off with that I didn’t feel like showering or using the bathroom. The air conditioner or heater was so dusty that I wouldn’t stay here again unless things really change.
