Residence Inn by Marriott Lubbock Southwest

I was here for work for two weeks, and the location worked really well since it was close to my job. The room had everything I needed. The staff were helpful with all my questions and even suggested places to eat. I'll come back.

I usually like Marriott hotels, so that probably colors my three-star rating a bit. The property itself is still in very good shape and the major things were fine, but a lot of small details were off. I'm under six feet tall and could see dust on top of the kitchenette fridge, enough to make it seem like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The beds looked clean and well made at check-in, but later I spotted a blood stain on the comforter just before bed. It was late and we'd already unpacked, so I didn't want to bring it up with my family. There were towels and hot shower water, but the curtain was too short and water got on the floor. Breakfast was hot each morning, though the oatmeal had the consistency of sticky bread dough when we ate between 7:30 and 8:30. These things are fixable, but until staff pay attention to them, this feels like a 2.5-star place.

The last two times my husband and I stayed here, the rooms seemed to need more attention. There was something that looked like poop on the wall beside the bathroom toilet, and a drip on the bathroom door that looked similar, though it might not have been. There was also a big crusty booger in the corner by the bed. Not a fan of that. The rest of the hotel and room are really nice, and we love the spacious suites. Could someone please clean those spots off the walls?

The room was nice apart from a couple of small things, including a broken tub stopper, but there was blood on the pullout sofa mattress. We called the front desk twice and nobody picked up. It was pretty late, and although we could have gone downstairs to ask for help, we just put all three kids in the bed. We stay at a lot of Marriotts and are lifetime Titanium Elite members, and we rarely have an issue worth reviewing. The woman at the desk was very snappy and defiant. Maybe she was in a bad mood because she was working on Halloween, who knows.
