Now that the level 2 charger is gone, I’ll be staying at one of the other hotels with chargers. I picked this place partly because of my Marriott membership and partly because the charger was available. On my last visit, the unit had been dismantled. The charger is an amenity on the property that guests depend on, so saying it’s not the hotel’s responsibility misses the guest experience. Staff sounded sorry but didn’t try to solve the problem or make up for any of the issues I had, which comes down to bad management. I’ve stayed here four times while driving back and forth to care for my parents’ medical needs. I wanted a reliable place, but at $250, after an earlier $99 rate, this is way overpriced for what you get. The furniture is worn and stained, temperature control doesn’t work, and advertised internet TV services aren’t there. On my last stay, the room barely had internet at all. The water softener is so strong the shower feels unsafe and the water is undrinkable, and there’s no bottled water. I tried breakfast once; it was sad and clearly a cost-cutting effort. The building feels badly designed, and the thin floors shake so much that I’m surprised it hasn’t collapsed. Unless you get a room in the NE corner, you may get highway noise and blasting sun. The curtains are fixed to one wall, so blocking the sun means making the room dark. The charging outlets in the room only work about half the time. I’m glad I won’t have to stay here again.

I’d happily stay at Marriott again next year if I’m back near Lubbock. The Bistro was good, especially the tomato soup with triple grilled cheese sandwiches. Since I often left around 5:30 a.m. and don’t make coffee in the room, there wasn’t always hot coffee available. The manager noticed and arranged for fresh coffee to be ready each morning before I left, which I really appreciated. My 30-day stay was comfortable. The staff were consistently pleasant, professional and helpful, and they got me a larger refrigerator from the first day after I asked. The gym was spacious, clean and well maintained, and it was quiet outside. The tinted window and blackout shades kept the room completely dark whenever I wanted to sleep. Overall, the team’s attention and willingness to help made a real difference.

We were upgraded to a spacious suite, and the Bistro food was good. One of the beds was sunken but comfortable; everything else was good. Everyone was super friendly. We were very close to Texas Tech. We didn’t eat elsewhere, so I can’t say how close restaurants are.

The women working in the dining area at night were so polite and sweet. We didn’t try breakfast and probably won’t, though we might get a Starbucks coffee. We were in LBK for a quick visit and chose this place for its location, about halfway between the two places we were visiting. It’s easy to get on and off the highway, and would also be handy for walking to a college game.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. When we arrived at 1AM, the front desk person made us feel unwelcome and seemed uninterested in our experience, even though I’m a gold member. She didn’t offer water, and there were no bottles in the room either. The bathroom door wouldn’t lock, and the tub was dangerously slippery; the curtain was too short to keep water from splashing out. The pillows were crumpled. Our room still hadn’t been serviced by 3:40 pm the next day, and we got a lame explanation that they only had three people. The phones didn’t work when I tried calling the desk, and neither the WiFi nor the TV worked. When you book a Marriott, you expect basic services. This place was horrible.
