Knights Inn Lumberton

I was traveling with a friend who was working. He had to return home to Mississippi after being in a bad wreck. I was in the vehicle in front of the check-in window, and he had left me a key for a room that was paid for a week. The next day I went to the store, and when I got back the key wouldn't open the door. I went to the office, but they refused to let me stay on the property. I was hundreds of miles from home and didn't know anyone.

For my first stay at a Knights Inn, I was pleasantly surprised by the room and would stay again. The shower was clean with good pressure, and the AC, microwave, fridge, and TV all worked well. It's a motel off Interstate 95. I actually liked it better than Motel 6!

The staff were nice enough and the room was a decent size, but I have never had a worse hotel experience. On my first morning, I woke up to find the pillowcase had come off and I'd slept all night on a bloody pillow. It was disgusting. I have photos, but they're too graphic to post. The linens didn't seem to have been bleached, and there were roaches and flies. People were panhandling in the staircases, and the doors didn't fit tightly, so conversations outside carried into the room. On my last morning I saw blood all over the sidewalk and checked out immediately. I've stayed at plenty of budget hotels and knew what I was getting into, but this was an outlier. Corporate didn't care when I contacted them, and I won't be back.

Friendly staff and a good place to stay for the night. It was pet-friendly, too. Around 2:30 a.m. it got a little noisy, and I saw some women outside smoking, but otherwise I had a good stay.
