Budget Inn

A typical low-cost motel: not much room service, barely any coffee in the morning, and some rooms have nothing but cinderblock walls to look at.

Room 110 had fresh paint, working AC, and a mini fridge and microwave that both worked. The vinyl flooring was a welcome plus for my allergies, and the sheets, towels, and bathroom were clean. I felt safe, and it stayed quiet even though the inn is on a main road. The water pressure was good and the water got very hot. At $100, it felt worth the price, and I’d recommend it.

I have not had a key to my room for a whole week, and my security camera and a bag of clothes are now missing. There are roaches and mice here, and the room I’m in has multiple safety hazards and no fire alarm. The only sink has no hot water. When I was told my assigned room wasn’t ready or clean, the manager still wouldn’t move me into a clean room with a key. I told him I had kids and that the room wasn’t suitable even for one person, let alone a couple. I also pointed out photos online showing larger, cleaner rooms in working condition, with two sinks, a full fridge, and a stove or some way to cook for longer stays. He said those rooms weren’t at this location, even though I can clearly see them, and he repeatedly promised to move me into a bigger room. That never happened. I only see him when he’s complaining about something. Another tenant said they were told something different and had heard about larger downstairs rooms that the manager says don’t exist. In the last few days, the manager and another guy have finally been working on those supposedly nonexistent bigger rooms. The manager has also been hostile, rude, and dishonest with me and other tenants. He blamed me for other people’s dog messes and made me clean them up, even though I don’t own a dog and don’t have one here. A visitor brought a dog, and nobody said anything to me until afterward. Now he expects people to walk their pets over to the MIMSLYN. I’ve heard the manager is hard to find, often has company over, and that his other location is an even bigger nightmare, with bedbugs, wood and regular roaches, mice, mold, and half the rooms broken into. If I get yelled at for something I didn’t do, I’ll be making calls to get this place shut down.

The owner here was pleasant and accommodating. After we were treated rudely at another motel, where they tried to double the price because they wouldn’t accept my husband’s obviously 100% trained GSD service dog, we walked all the way across town to the Budget Inn. On this super hot day, the owner gave all three of us a bottle of water and upgraded us for free because a regular two-bed room wasn’t available. We had a spacious room, a hot shower, and cold air conditioning and fridge. It was a pleasant stay, and we’d come back.
