Cardinal Inn

The Cardinal Inn in Luray is well priced and close to the Luray Caverns, which makes it a great value for a memorable visit. The staff were genuinely welcoming, and the hospitality was top-notch. Highly recommend.

The owner of Cardinal Inn agreed to donate a three-night room stay for our VFW's Bluegrass benefit next year. It's an annual fundraiser for local veterans, and every dollar goes to the VFW to help a veteran in need. He wrote the room's value on the back of his card, and I gave him a letter with the details and our tax ID for a tax write-off. He returned the card with the information and asked that the winner make a reservation before the end of September. At our 12th benefit, a gentleman won the package and called to book, as instructed. The owner wouldn't honor the deal. When I went to the office, he said he hadn't signed the card, so there would be no room. I asked if he'd read my letter, and he said no. The people who own Cardinal Inn should be ashamed for backing out. If you don't understand how a benefit works, don't agree to donate. You took money from a veteran who can't afford repairs to their home.

On the morning we were leaving, two family members arrived at 9am with muffins. The owners stormed over to our room and immediately demanded extra money because there were more than two people there. We left after the owner harassed and verbally abused us. During my short time at the Inn, I also saw a bullet hole in the bathroom window covered with tape.

The staff were prompt and professional, and the grounds were clean, with the rose bushes looking pretty and full this time of year. Inside, the bathroom was spacious and clean, and the beds were firm but comfortable. The rooms were super clean, and I was pleasantly surprised for the low price. They had a microwave, small fridge, strong wi-fi, iron and ironing board, blow dryer, and even a bottle opener mounted on the bathroom door casing. Best value I've found in a while.
