Wingate by Wyndham Atlanta/Six Flags Austell

I almost slept in my vehicle rather than stay in this place. It was filthy and run down, and the stairwell looked like nobody had cleaned it in years. The elevator was out, several AC units didn’t work, and the hallway reeked of pot. The pool looked unused for years, while breakfast was just two kinds of cereal. The mattresses seemed about 30 years old, and I saw bedbugs. The most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

The front desk was turning people away despite plenty of rooms appearing to be available, which gave the place a very sketchy feel. I’d expect cleaner rooms and better service at the smaller motels next door, and would suggest staying at one of the cheaper ones. This hotel was deteriorating, with no apparent maintenance or care. The fourth-floor hallway looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed in a month. Our room had no comforter or pillowcases, and none of the amenities worked. There was also a Fire Marshall sign on the front door saying the alarms didn’t work. It felt like they were trying to make as much money as possible before abandoning the property. Wyndham should take its name off this dump.

Our room was in terrible shape. The tub needs to go in a dumpster, and the water took forever to drain. The toilet kept running, the mattress was stained, and the pillows were extremely old. My sister and brother’s room had several stains on the beds, and their curtains wouldn’t close. On top of that, a kid around 10 or 11 was mowing the lawn and completely messed up our vehicle. The lobby was extremely hot and the elevator was out, so we had to climb to the third floor. The hallways were unfit to walk through, with more ceiling tiles missing than in place and water leaking. This hotel was horrible. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Please don’t stay there.

They gave us four different rooms before we finally got one where the AC worked halfway, and then refused to refund us so we could go somewhere else. Staff were rude in the evening, and the morning employee loudly chewed gum while checking us out. She told me the lack of a refund was my problem, not theirs. The motel was dirty, with dirty beds and a bathroom falling apart. There was no toilet paper, no breakfast, and no amenities. Half the locks didn’t work, the elevator was broken, and there was no maintenance. The smell of marijuana was overpowering. There were abandoned cars and trash all over the parking lot, which seemed never to be cleaned. A fire marshal violation and warning were posted on the door. It seemed like unless you wanted attitude or drugs, you were out of luck. This is no place to bring your family. I’d give it negative stars if I could.
