Days Inn by Wyndham Mackinaw City - Lakeview

The room was clean, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The AC was running full blast when we got in, and it cooled the room in minutes. It’s not luxury, but I slept better there than at home. The front desk man was amazing when we arrived, and they gave us plenty of coupons. It was quiet at night too.

We booked another hotel, but they moved us here without explaining why. Be careful of a bait and switch. The room felt unsafe and neglected: the door’s deadbolt was broken, there was a huge gap underneath where you could see outside, the floor was dirty, and the AC barely worked. The bed was terrible, and the dated furniture was in rough shape. The shower had good water pressure, but half the knob was gone. Maybe they have better rooms, but this was the worst. After seeing it, I didn’t even want to check out breakfast. I know it isn’t a five-star place, but it should at least be clean and feel safe. I wouldn’t stay unless it was the only hotel left.

We booked a king room at the last minute for one night, and it did the job as a stop on the way to somewhere else. The room was clean and looked recently updated, with new flooring, cabinets, and wall art. The bathroom was more dated. The shower head didn’t work well, the tub drained poorly, and the shower faucet was backwards. There’s a small bathroom window for ventilation, but it has no screen. When I reached for a towel on the shelf directly beneath it, I saw two or three large spiders living in the window.

The room smelled like smoke, the floor was filthy, and none of the wobbly lamps were plugged in. The receptionist was rude and seemed to hate her job. The lobby was closed and didn’t even have coffee today. We should’ve taken the empty parking lot as a clue when the other hotels had cars. This place is a dump. AAA and Days Inn/Wyndham should think twice about having their names attached to it. Consider another hotel. I can’t stress it enough: do not stay here.
