Rainbow Motel

For our 50th wedding anniversary, we wanted a homey, non-chain place for a couple nights, and Rainbow Motel was a great find. The owners were super friendly and helpful, the room was so clean, and the pool and hot tub area was wonderful. Location was perfect, within walking distance of shops, places to eat, and the ferry dock. A huge thank you to Laura and Todd and the Rainbow Motel Family!

The price was cheap, which was a plus, and the host was cheerful and wonderful. The motel itself is dated and needs remodeling. My room had a 1970s look and needs a facelift. The bathroom wasn't good: the toilet was very low, and the shower nozzle came well below my chin. The straight curtain bar meant the curtain stuck to me the whole time I showered. Just okay.

We only needed a place for one night and found a gem. The owners were clean, extremely courteous, and friendly, and the location was convenient. We also loved the nostalgic feel. There's an indoor pool, plus an indoor and an outdoor hot tub. Restaurants, a brewery, downtown shops, and the waterfront are an easy walk away. Skip the corporate hotel and stay at Rainbow Motel!

We came to Mackinaw City for our first anniversary and booked the queen suite with the jacuzzi tub. We had first booked somewhere else, then made the mistake of reading the reviews afterward and cancelled immediately. Rainbow had the best reviews around. The suite was separate from the motel itself, which was cool. It felt like we had a little cabin to ourselves. The room was very clean, and I checked the bedding, which was clean too. The bed was super comfy. It was a bit musty, but that didn't bother me. We brought our bikes and left them behind our little building, and they were fine. We didn't get to the pool or hot tub, but the jacuzzi was so relaxing. The owners were helpful and friendly, and gave us tips on their favorite places to eat. I really enjoyed my stay and definitely recommend it.
