La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Macon

We canceled our booking at another hotel and got a great last-minute deal at La Quinta. The staff were fantastic and very friendly, and it was quiet. Housekeepers brought us fresh towels in the afternoon. We didn't get to try the hotel's breakfast because we like our Chick-fil-A in the mornings. I'd recommend staying here again.

Breakfast had a decent selection, with waffles, toast, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, tea, egg whites, sausage, and plenty of condiments. There was also a large, comfortable seating area. We paid 82 dollars on a Thursday night, plus tax and fees, for a total of 106. It was a good value, and we'd stay again. We had a comfortable, clean king suite with a separate bedroom, living room and sleeper sofa, sitting area, desk, wet bar, and kitchenette. The bed was comfortable and clean, both TVs worked and had plenty of channels, and the fridge, microwave, and plumbing all worked. The old microwave needs replacing, though. There was plenty of hot water. The walls, carpet, ceiling, and doors showed serious age and need a lot of maintenance. The hotel was generally clean, with no bad smells, smoke or animal odors in our room or area, and we didn't see any bugs. Front desk staff were always available and efficient, but not especially friendly.

The guest laundry was clean and worked perfectly for us. Since we travel late and need to wash clothes every few days, we really appreciated having it. The rooms were nice, too. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the oatmeal, which is my favorite. Housekeeping were very friendly and always left me fresh towels, though I couldn't understand a single word they said. The front desk guys were great, but they really don't know much about things to do in the area.

This place was awful. The walk to the room smelled disgusting, and everything felt sticky and dirty. The toilet paper roll provided was gross and already used. The room phone didn't work, and when we called the front desk from our own phone, nobody answered. They seemed to spend the money on the outside and made no effort to make the rooms look nice. We even got locked out of our room mid-stay and had to get the key card fixed. You might be better off at a Motel 6.
