The staff were really pleasant, and the sheets and towels were clean. There was dust and grime tucked into the wall crevices, though, and the room smelled awful, like gym socks and wet dog. Maybe it was just our room. Without that smell, I’d probably rate the stay around 3.5 or 4 stars, but it was so strong that I wouldn’t consider staying here again.

The manager’s care and attention to the little things are a big part of why our group keeps coming back. She makes guests feel valued, and the friendly staff make us feel welcome as soon as we walk in. I’ve been staying here in Madison Heights with my church group for over 10 years. The hotel has consistently been clean, comfortable, and well cared for. By now, it feels like a home away from home, and we always look forward to visiting. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in Madison Heights.

I paid a great price for what I wanted, a night away from home. The room smelled fresh and clean, and everything in it was great. The hotel and staff were amazing, and breakfast hit the spot. Being able to make your own waffles was a nice touch. This is my go-to place when I need a little getaway.

Eddie at the front desk was the highlight, such a pleasant young man. Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable, although the pillows were small. The hotel is older but decent, and the continental breakfast was okay. There was a strong smell of POT when we entered, even stronger in the hallway by our room on both days, though we didn’t notice it inside the room. The young man cleaning and setting up breakfast was doing a good job, but vacuuming while people were eating wasn’t ideal. Breakfast ending at 9 a.m. felt early; I’d suggest keeping it open until 10. We had really good biscuits and gravy at the Petoskey MI location!
