The breakfast change after Spark took over was a real letdown. Before, there were hot options like eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuits, and gravy. Now it’s bagels, toast, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, and hard-boiled eggs, much like a budget hotel breakfast. As a diabetic, that was a major inconvenience, and I’ll stick with four stars until there are more options that aren’t so loaded with carbs and sugar. It’d also help to have ice near the coffee machines, either in a machine or a container. The front desk staff were great and let me get some from their kitchen. I’ve stayed here several times for conferences, and this was my first visit since management switched to Spark. I like the upgrades around the hotel, the service remains top-notch, and being connected to the Alliant Energy Center is still the best. It’s a great hotel, just with a subpar continental breakfast.

The staff were amazing, always helpful and keeping the place clean. We were in town for a weekend hockey tournament, and it was about 15 minutes to everything in Madison. The pool is genuinely spacious, the breakfast was nice, and the lobby was a good place for the group to hang out and watch TV. Really enjoyed this place.

I sprained my ankle and could barely walk on Saturday night during my stay for a work event over Thanksgiving. Amber at the front desk was incredibly gracious and even gave me medicine for it. Her customer service was some of the best I’ve seen in a long time. The rooms were beautiful, and the staff were amazing. I’d definitely stay again. I’d driven up from Chicago through the snowstorm to be there.

The hotel was clean and in like-new condition, and the staff were all very nice. There’s an indoor connecting corridor to the Alliant Center, and a shuttle took us downtown and picked us up. We could check in early, and between that, the breakfast, and the rideshare savings, this was a steal for an event stay.

The beds are comfortable, the service is attentive, and the location is convenient. Spark is intentionally simple, which is why I’d give it four stars instead of five. Some extras are missing: there isn’t much counter space in the rooms, and breakfast is limited, with no hot eggs or waffle station. The coffee is good and the muffins are decent, though. It’s affordably priced and gives you more than your money’s worth.
