Quality Inn Madison

The room was comfortable, the front desk lady was nice, and the shower got very hot with good water pressure. Breakfast had a Jimmy Dean sandwich, yogurt, and waffles. It’s a comfortable stay for a reasonable price. It’s a Quality Inn, not a Hilton, so go to Hilton if that’s what you’re after. I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again when passing through.

Dinner is easy with a Cracker Barrel just fifty feet away behind the hotel. The breakfast worked perfectly for me, too: grab a sausage biscuit, heat it, and go. The room was in good working order, and the walls and woodwork were professionally painted and very clean. The decorating and landscaping look professionally done. I did forget my Kindle at home, but that was my own fault.

The room looked clean when we arrived, and the night check-in lady was great. She even brought extra towels after we’d requested them through the app. But the sink handle came off in my hand while I was washing up, and the tissue holder came apart when I pulled the roll. Maybe that explains the spare rolls and hangers. I was tired and just wanted bed, but the sheets kept shifting off all night and I couldn’t sleep. In the morning, the shower water wasn’t even warm. With prices like these, they should hire a handyman to fix things.

After our nine-hour drive, we took the only room available, a king smoking room, though I’d called ahead and been told a king non-smoking room would be ready. The desk clerk was nice, and said the computer system was acting up when she took my details. Our key worked, but at midnight someone was already in that room, watching TV. The guest understood the mix-up. The clerk said nobody should have been in there, then moved us to a non-smoking room that thankfully didn’t smell like weed. At first the room seemed okay, if a bit dated. Then I took off my socks and found dirt all over the floor. Turning on the AC blew dust everywhere, even though the filters can be cleaned. In the shower, I found four hairs that weren’t mine. The water was warm enough, but the pressure was so bad I had to stand under the showerhead to rinse. The caulking looked gray, but wiped white with a wet rag. The whole room was like that. Anything washable had been cleaned and smelled nice, but the rest needed real work and elbow grease. We had two small dogs with us while visiting Madison for one night, and I’d never stay here again. As a Choice Rewards member, I was really let down. Every other Choice hotel we’ve stayed at has been great, but not this one.
