Juniper Motel Madras

For one night, this was a pleasant stay and a reasonable price. The motel was clean and comfortable, and I’d happily come back.

The surroundings are so peaceful, and I slept comfortably. The hospitality was great too. Had an awesome stay and will visit again.

We had meant to stay in Prineville, but horse races filled every room there, so we wound up booking a night at the Juniper Motel in Madras. It’s definitely a motel, whatever the name suggests. The price was about what you’d expect for a cheap place, and it did the job for a last-minute stop. The room was moderately clean, enough to feel okay sleeping there, though it still felt like a budget motel. The bathroom paint was peeling badly, and the property clearly shows its age. The A/C worked, the fridge and microwave were fine, and the beds were just alright. It was quiet enough to rest and there weren’t any sketchy surprises. The front desk was friendly and checked us in quickly. It won’t wow you, but it served its purpose. There’s a video with more information on my YouTube channel.

I wouldn’t recommend this motel. The front desk man was rude and disrespectful to my wife and me. Before booking, I asked directly whether there was room for my truck and trailer. He said yes and showed me the spot. After I paid online, he demanded another $25 for parking. When I asked why he hadn’t mentioned the charge before, he ignored me and snapped, “Don’t ask me anything anymore, go find a motel somewhere else.” Maybe he was annoyed that I’d paid online and he couldn’t charge me more, but that’s only how it felt to me. I believe the way he handled it was dishonest, and it felt like stealing. His conduct was unprofessional. Don’t stay here or give them your business.
