We came back for our second stay and had a small reservation hiccup, but Ms Thelma, the manager, went out of her way to look after us. The rooms are very clean, and you’re close to so many places in Maggie Valley. We loved the little porch out back with its view of the water. We love staying at the Stoney Creek.

A winter storm changed our wedding plans in a big way while we were in Maggie Valley, and Regina at Stony Creek Lodge was a God Sent Angel. She booked us a room quickly and offered the creek behind the hotel and the gazebo for our ceremony if we couldn’t do our sunrise hike. We ended up getting married there. The room was clean, and every staff member was so friendly. We’ll recommend Stony Creek Lodge and stay again when we’re in the area.

The only little snag was waiting a while for the shower to heat up. Everything else made for a really enjoyable stay: the room was clean and cozy, with that rustic cabin-in-the-woods look that felt like home. The woman at the desk was super friendly. We’d happily stay at this lovely motel by the creek again.

The room had plenty of space for me as a manual wheelchair user and for someone using a scooter. From the balcony over the creek I could transfer to the glider, and there was another lit sitting area by the water that I could enjoy too. The problem was the ramp to the room: it was crumbling, and I nearly tipped forward at one point. It’s also somewhat steep for someone who self-propels, which is why I took off a star. Still, I’d recommend this place for an affordable mountain getaway.

The balcony and view were beautiful, and the rooms were very clean. Check-in was quick and we were welcomed with smiles, plus a cute doggy. The cleaning staff were friendly and welcoming too.
