Tru by Hilton Manassas

Farm Brew Live, Hylton Performing Arts Center, and Old Town Manassas are all close by, which made getting around convenient. The hotel was very nice, with friendly staff and clean, spacious rooms. It seems best suited for a short stay.

The heat in my first room wasn’t working at all, but Layla at the front desk handled it quickly and kindly. She came up with maintenance to try to fix it, then found me another room when that didn’t work. She checked back more than once to make sure I was all right. Everyone else I dealt with was friendly and responsive too.

The elevator lobby had dry erase boards full of local ideas for food, entertainment, learning, and exercise, and the views from the picture windows in the rooms and by the elevator landings were great. There was a shuffleboard table in the lobby, solid wifi, and the parking lot was plowed right after it snowed. The gym even had climbing and hanging ropes, and there were brainy kids’ games and a complete Ticket to Ride set available. The 24/7 front desk market was stocked with things like Amy's pad Thai microwave meals, wine, Dots Pretzels, and Snickers ice cream bars. Breakfast was simple but good, with robust lavazza coffee, gluten-free Udi's bagels, and yogurt with toppings including dried fruit, nuts, and mini M&Ms. For the price, the service and amenities were exceptional. It was also quiet and clean.

My first time at a Tru turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The room was simple but had what I needed, and the cafe worked well for breakfast and was handy the rest of the day. I enjoyed staying here and would try it again.
