The INN at Willow Pond

The staff were kind and friendly, but the place seems run down and short staffed. Our room smelled musty, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed, and cleanliness was just okay. The wifi didn’t reach our room. After someone cleaned it, they left the door shut but unlocked, though luckily nobody tried to come in. There’s no in-room safe or dead bolt, only a simple lock and chain. The amenities are the bare minimum for an acceptable stay. If you can afford another place, I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

The front desk staff were friendly and tried to help, but they seemed unable to resolve things without the owner. I’d spend a little more and stay at Hamilton Inn a few miles down the road. I arrived Sunday at 11:30pm with my room already paid for, not knowing the desk closed at 8pm. No one had told me. I had to book another room at a National chain for that night. The staff said the next morning that my room and key had been taped to the front door, but I wasn’t told until then. The wifi in my room has been unavailable for two days with no fix, the fitness equipment doesn’t work, the pool is out of service, and there’s no coffee maker in the room.

The room was spacious but dated, and the place was okay, nothing special. We stayed with the kids in March 2018 and didn’t try the breakfast or the sledding hill behind our room. With so many cool lodges and inns nearby, we’ll probably try our luck somewhere else next time, or pay more to stay at the Equinox.

I stayed at the willow pod on September 28 2018, and we were given a room even though the receptionist knew there was no running water. I called the front desk, and she said they were working on it and it would be fixed soon, but by morning we still had no water. They agreed to refund me when I asked, but I never got the money back despite calling several times. I finally reached a manager who said he’d taken care of it. As of October 21 2018, I still hadn’t received the refund.
