We took a $60 chance on the Duffer after finding rooms in Altus, 20 miles from where we were headed, sold out or going for $280 a night. We were worn out, so we were grateful it worked out. The A/C did its job, the water was really hot, and the older mattress was surprisingly comfortable. Sherry the manager made the stay with her excellent customer service. You can tell this motel was once quite nice. A fresh coat of paint, replacing the stained old carpet, and new linens and bedspreads would make a huge difference. The town was cute, and the coffee at the little gas station the next morning was hot and so good. We’ve traveled 123,000 miles around the USA in the last three years for my husband’s work, and staying somewhere older like this was a fun, memorable experience. We only stayed because it was 3 a.m. and we couldn’t keep driving. This is the worst-kept motel we’ve ever been in, and we stay in motels about 300 nights a year. The attached photos show it all. I do not recommend it.

I was glad to find the room clean and neat when I checked in around 11:30 p.m. for a family funeral. It’s a little dated, but that’s what you’d expect in a small town. The person working nights was very nice, and I’ll definitely stay there again. I love this little town. I grew up in Mangum and had known about Duffer's for years, though I’d only stayed a couple of times before.

I spent a month at Duffer Motel and found it worked just fine for a longer stay. It’s in a nice area near stores and restaurants, with plenty of parking. The owner and employees are all very friendly and kind. I’d stay again if I needed to, and would recommend the motel to anyone. October 21, 2024

Stephanie was friendly and professional, and helped us choose a room that suited our particular needs. The motel is older, but clean and convenient. We’ll stay there again when we’re in the area.
