We weren’t hotel guests, just exploring the beach area when we stopped at The Shade for drinks. The lobby, bar, and restaurant caught our eye right away, with a relaxed but upscale feel. We had a couple of well-made cocktails, and the menu looked great. The dishes going to nearby tables looked fresh and beautifully presented, so we’re already thinking about coming back for food. The bartender was friendly and engaging, and the front desk staff were kind and helpful when we had a question. Every interaction felt genuinely hospitable. The setting and atmosphere left a strong impression, and next time we’re in the area we’ll be back, hopefully as hotel guests too.

We stopped at the Shade for a cocktail before walking around the beach and pier. The restaurant is gorgeous, and the menu looked fantastic. Our bartender was great to chat with, and the front desk staff kindly pointed me toward the bathroom when I asked. They didn’t chide me for missing the restroom signs with arrows. We’ll be back to stay at the hotel and try the food. Thanks for the wonderful service!

The room was spectacular, especially the bathtub that fills from the ceiling. Water comes down in a steady stream, though it takes a while to fill. My wife and I had a couple of lucky days at the Shade in Manhattan Beach. The front desk and valet were polite, and the restaurant service was great. We were doing some water coloring at a tucked-away table, and our waiter brought us a little light without being asked. We rode the complimentary bikes to the Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach. That hotel looked nice, but it’s in a boat harbor without much going on nearby. Manhattan Beach has tons of restaurants, coffee shops, and retail shops all around.

We had a really enjoyable stay and would happily come back. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, with spacious, comfortable rooms that were very clean. It’s especially convenient that the beach is only a few minutes’ walk away.

We held an event for nearly 100 people, and it turned out wonderfully. The staff were kind and took care of all the details. Dreana did an exceptional job following up with us throughout. The Shade Hotel team exceeded our expectations.
