Hampton Inn Manitowoc

I spent seven nights here. The hotel is new and clean, with a big flat-screen TV and good Wi-Fi. My one real complaint is the HVAC controls. Either give guests better thermostat control or let us manage the PTAC with its own touch pad. If you lower the heat before bed, it automatically switches on the A/C, even when it's -8F outside. Still a good hotel, and I'd recommend it.

We had to leave home at 2 AM because of a carbon monoxide alarm, and the staff got us into a room quickly. The modern, well-designed rooms and good breakfast were just what we needed. The self-pour beer and wine was a nice touch. Manitowoc’s hoteliers have been asleep at the wheel for decades, with dated rooms and poor service, so it was nice to finally find a modern property in town. Everything was perfect, as I expect at a Hilton property.

For a hotel that only opened at the beginning of December 2025, this Hampton Inn did pretty well. The staff are new and still training, but were very nice and handled what I needed. My room had enough space for me, good lighting, plenty of charging outlets, coat hooks, a fridge, and a microwave. The shower controls were like the ones I have at home. I appreciated all the hooks, since most hotels don't have many. There's some vehicle noise on the highway side, but it didn't bother me. The movie theater is about a 30-second walk across the lot. Downstairs, you can buy a card at the front desk and pour your own beer or wine from a couple of taps. Breakfast's hot options were scrambled eggs, cut-up sausages, and potatoes, and it was pretty good. Everything in the room worked. The guest laundry was the exception: I got one machine going, but the other didn't register the money. The working one shook so badly during its spin cycle that I left the room in case it came apart. Still, I got my laundry done, so no big deal. The microwave door also has a strange latch; if it's hard to pull open, push up on the button on the handle.

Everything was neat, clean, and quiet, with good service. I was impressed that breakfast changed daily, and I'd definitely recommend staying here. My only suggestion is to add more dresser drawers; two adults with a moderate amount of clothing didn't have enough storage.
