The room we got was a smelly, echoing box with a plastic floor, an IKEA couch, and no bathroom door. We could hear everything from the office below, including the girl talking on the phone most of the night. One of the two beds was an odd twin tucked into a corner. We came back expecting the beautiful room and cozy feel we remembered from three years ago, but this was a huge letdown. After a rainy day of driving, we’d paid $350, including $80 in fees, hoping for a quiet night. Instead, there was a dog barking at every move or sound we made. The girl at the office said the only other rooms with two beds were near the dog, and mentioned she knew its owners. I don’t know what that had to do with anything. It was dark and we had nowhere else to go, so she moved us to this room above the office. There were only a few guests around, which made the choice even harder to understand. We’d told everyone how much we liked this place and couldn’t wait to return. I’m incredibly disappointed. If you want a romantic, peaceful getaway, I’d avoid it unless you’re prepared for a letdown.

Having our guests stay onsite gave the wedding weekend a nostalgic summer camp feel, and friends and family still mention it. The Lodge at Marconi was a perfect place to get married, with stunning views and a beautiful property. Tomales Bay has always meant a lot to us, so celebrating right on its shore felt especially meaningful. We also served local oysters as a nod to the area. We had the ceremony at the top of the hill, dinner under their tented area, then the reception in Buck Hall. Moving between the spaces worked seamlessly and let us enjoy the whole property. Highly recommend it to couples looking for a scenic, memorable venue.

The beds were some of the most comfortable I’ve slept in, the staff were kind, and Marshall and Point Reyes are close by. We also loved the sustainability efforts and had a fantastic meal at the onsite restaurant, especially the cod and chicken dishes. For us as a couple, it was a quiet retreat, with 62 acres of trails that made us want to stay outside all day. It has a summer camp feel for adults, though families are welcome too, with kids’ movie nights and scavenger hunts around the property. The rooms are in historic buildings, so there can be some noise, but the ear plugs they provide help. We knew it was rustic luxury rather than the Ritz, and that’s part of the charm. We stayed Monday to Wednesday when there weren’t many guests and had no noise from our room. I wouldn’t let the chance of noise put you off this unique, beautiful place.

Breathtaking sunsets and grounds where you can get back to nature. It’s tucked away from the road, so the place feels beautiful and peaceful. The rooms are modern, and the staff were helpful. Port Reyes Station is a 15 minute drive for a supermarket, hardware store, and restaurant. If peace, quiet, and nature are what you’re after, I recommend it.

We had a great meal at Mable’s, with delicious food and cocktails. The room has a retro cool look, was clean, and had a very comfy bed with extra blankets. Our view of the bay was gorgeous, and the branding and design are really well done. Spending a weekend away from the kids at Marconi felt dreamy. I was impressed with the renovation and service, and we’ll be back.
