Courtyard Atlanta Windy Hill/Ballpark

After all the room confusion, we ended up having a nice stay. The suite was spacious, well appointed, and had a fridge and microwave. It was the best room of the three, with a larger bathroom and things that felt a bit more updated. The hotel is close to everything, and I’d still recommend it. Just be prepared to clean your room yourself if you want it done right. Work ethic isn’t what it used to be. Our suite was ready early, so we went in to check everything and do some extra cleaning. When we turned down the covers, there was hair and crumbs at the foot of the sheet. A very nice manager got us a different room, but that one was occupied! Another lovely desk attendant found us yet another room. Thank God that one worked out.

The plumbing made an awful high-pitched noise when the upstairs guests showered, waking me very early and keeping me up until they finished. It happened again the next day, luckily in the evening while we were awake. The bathroom had no ventilation, paint was peeling from the ceilings, the tub faucet was loose, and I wondered if mold had been painted over. I didn’t want to touch the walls. There wasn’t even a bathroom trash can, and the hotel was the dingiest I’ve stayed in. We’ve stayed at Courtyards before, so I couldn’t believe this was one. It may be old, but how did it get this bad? We couldn’t find a do-not-disturb sign, and the front desk couldn’t find one either. One staff member suggested taking one from another room. Wouldn’t they need one for each room? I left my pillow at checkout. When I called that night, they said they wouldn’t know until housekeeping came in. The next day they said housekeeping was done and to call tomorrow. We called earlier the following day, but they were closed then too. Around midday they said they’d check and call back, but I never heard from them. I’ve given up on the pillow, they probably tossed it, and it’s only a pillow. Still, come on. I’d gladly pay more for a cleaner, better hotel. Avoid if you can.

Do not book here. My reservation was cancelled by email just hours before check-in, with the explanation that the hotel was closed for renovations. Other reviews describe the same thing happening more than two years ago. People have also said the hotel cancelled without notice because of overbooking and used renovations as a false excuse.

We’d probably return for another Braves game. It’s a little over a mile away, an easy walk, and the pool area is top-notch. The lobby has plenty of comfortable couches and chairs, the coffee bar offers a good range of food and drinks, and service was very good. We did see several cockroaches inside, including one in our room. We were also given a handicap access room at check-in without being told it was wheelchair accessible. That only bothered us because of the shower, but it would’ve been nice to know beforehand, hear why we were assigned it, and discuss other options.
