The cypress trees made the whole place feel magical, and our family and dog had a great time. The campground was beautiful, quiet, immaculate, and well maintained. We especially liked the playground, dog park, and easy access to the beach dunes. Staff were attentive, helpful, and kind. The only downside was highway noise. That does come with the convenience of having the campground as an easy stop on a trip.

We stayed in a yurt and can’t wait to come back. Even with all our luggage, there was plenty of room to move around. The bed felt like sleeping on a cloud, and bedding and bath towels were provided. Inside were a table and chairs, dresser, two bedside tables with lamps and phone charging, and a small heater. Since there was power, we brought an electric kettle and French press so we could have coffee when we woke up early. Outside, we had a parking spot, picnic table, fixed ice chest, fire pit, and two Adirondack chairs. We arrived very late, but the resort staff accommodated us. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms and showers, community center, and children’s play area were all very clean. The small Bodega in the office had enough things to choose from that we didn’t need to leave the park. It’s close to town for provisions, next to Marina Nature Preserve, and down the road from Marina State Park. Monterey is about half an hour away in one direction, and Santa Cruz is about half an hour the other way. We visited the Monterey Aquarium with family, then stopped at the Santa Cruz boardwalk on the way to the airport. Being centrally located made both stops easy to fit in.

My wife, kids, and I stay at Marina dunes all the time. The people are great, and the facility is absolutely wonderful. It’s a perfect spot for camping and exploring when you come to Monterey. Anyone who leaves a bad review needs to stay home, lock their doors, and not come out of the house.

The sites are beautiful, but the location is awful for quiet. It’s back by Hwy 1, with steady traffic around the clock, so we couldn’t get a peaceful night’s sleep. From the north entrance, it’s a third of a mile to walk to the beach. I don’t know why they haven’t put up a tall sound barrier. I would not recommend staying here.

My parents stayed at one of the spacious, well-kept RV sites and found it perfect for relaxing. The on-site tiny homes were adorable, too. I spent one night in a yurt, with a comfortable bed, linens and towels provided, plus a fire pit, picnic table, and chairs. Restrooms and showers were great. The place was clean and cozy, and the beach was a short walk away. It’s a quick drive to Monterey, and Marina has plenty of stores and restaurants. The park store closes early, so plan ahead. I’d highly recommend it for an RV stay or a relaxing seaside getaway.
