Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Marion, IL

My son and I enjoyed the pool, breakfast was fine, and the hotel itself was good. The rooms and service were five stars for me. We also used it as a good base for getting to several hiking spots in shawnee forest. The big problem was the traffic noise. The hotel sits near several busy roads and a stoplight, and cars and trucks kept revving away from it all night. Every five minutes or so, some car or truck with a loud exhaust seemed to go by. I've stayed in hotels all over the world, and this was the worst road noise I've experienced, even worse than near a freeway. Light sleepers will hate it. There are three or four hotels in the same area, so I imagine they all get the same noise. I'd try to find one farthest from the I-13 and halfway rd intersection.

The rooms felt stuffy with no air moving through them. The bedroom was separate, with the temperature controls inside, so closing its door left the sitting area too warm and uncomfortable. There was lots of furniture packed into that sitting area, and it felt cramped. The place was clean, and the night shift gentleman was polite and helped us quickly. In the morning, though, nobody was at the desk. I wouldn't stay here again.

After a long day of driving, the room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were really friendly. I chose this hotel because of the reviews and am glad I did. I'd definitely stay here again.

My daughter was driving from Oregon to Tennessee with my two grandkids. She was exhausted, didn't know the area, and called me crying because she couldn't drive any farther. I looked for a hotel for her, and thankfully found the Country Inn. LILY answered the phone, understood what was going on, and booked them a room. She saved the day for us. The room was very nice and comfortable.
