Journey Inn

After a 13-hour drive, I was too tired to look elsewhere, and I regret staying here. I travel for seasonal work and have stayed in plenty of budget hotels, but this was a traumatic experience. I don't understand how it got such positive reviews. The bed was very soft, and the location is handy, just off the interstate with a dollar store across the street. But the room was filthy. There were visible bodily fluids on the toilet seat and desk chair, heavy dust in every corner and on the bed, broken shelving and sink fixtures, and a hole in the wall covered with drywall that was coming apart. Someone had left rotten groceries in the mini fridge, and the floor turned the bottoms of my socks orange. They need to start cleaning these rooms. The sanitation was so bad it put people's health at risk. I'd tell others to plan ahead and find somewhere else to sleep.

The loud highway noise kept going through the night, so light sleepers should know that. In the morning, before the 11 o'clock checkout, someone knocked around 10:20. I said we weren't dressed yet but would be leaving soon. About four minutes later there was another knock. A man was at the door, trying to open it and force his way in. Thankfully, all the locks were on. The room had several problems. Roaches were the first thing we noticed, including some in the mini fridge, whose freezer was a slushy, frozen mess. There was mold around the bathtub edge, and the sheets had several red and dark hairs. I saw no evidence of bedbugs. The bed was good, the water temperature was fine, and the woman at the front desk was nice.

Snow kept us an extra night, but the owner didn't clear the parking lot or even a path to the office. There was mold in the shower and bathtub, plus in the nightstand and TV stand drawers. For what we got, it was overpriced. I wouldn't recommend it.

We chose this one-story place because my wife is disabled, and we arrived in the area late. The fridge still had food in it, which I might have let go. But during the night the bathroom door nearly fell off, and when my wife sat down, the toilet seat came off completely. We checked out as soon as we woke up. When I told the staff member what had happened, she just said, “Too bad, you should have checked last night.” The place was filthy and the staff was rude.
