Best Western Executive Inn

Robin at the front desk was a real asset to Best Western Hotels. She was warm, eager to help, and put out a delicious hot, fresh breakfast. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, and the bathroom had been redone with a granite shower and countertops. The bath towels and linens, though, were worn, dingy, and stained. The carpet was clean but dated and wrinkled. A decent budget choice for an overnight stay.

The people working here are great, friendly, and helpful, and we’ve stayed before. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though a little dated. Being right on the highway could make it noisy for light sleepers. There’s a good Mexican restaurant across the road that you can walk to.

The front desk clerk was friendly and kind. She made sure I felt welcome and looked after.

We’re Gold Rewards Members and have stayed with Best Western Plus for years without many problems. On our way toward Lubbock, we spent the first night at Best Western Marshall, Tx. It’s an older hotel, but the room was clean. The bathroom needed a good scrub behind the door, and the bed was hard. I couldn’t sleep, though my husband did. There was no odor in room 107, and we made it work on the first floor. On our return to Alabama, we planned to stay there again. We were given an upstairs room, number 207, and thought we’d eat first so I wouldn’t have to use the stairs twice. My husband is 75 and I’m 67 with bad knees, so stairs are difficult for me. He went up ahead of me, came back out, and said his allergies were bothering him immediately. When I finally got up and entered, the room smelled bad, like a wet animal, with something like carpet cleaner used to cover it. Our allergies reacted quickly, and my throat started acting up too. We carried our luggage back downstairs and asked to cancel room 207 and get a refund so we could stay elsewhere. Trudy said she couldn’t authorize refunds and the manager wasn’t available. I asked her to write a note saying we’d canceled because our allergies meant we couldn’t stay, but she said sorry. I said we’d call the manager Tuesday, since it was Labor Day weekend. Best Western customer care couldn’t help either and said we still had to speak with the manager. We asked the Best Western agent about another nearby Best Western Plus and had to drive 25 miles back to Longview TX, where we paid for another room. A couple of days later, Trudy called and spoke with my husband. She was able to give us a refund. Thank you, Trudy, for helping. Sorry it didn’t work out for us.
