Quality Inn Marshall

The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the employees were friendly. We were in town to visit Caddo Lake State Park and stayed two nights. Our room was spacious, clean, and had modern accommodations, with private parking available on site. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

The beds were comfortable, but that was the only real positive. For what we paid, the room wasn’t worth it. This isn’t a Hampton, but the prices are like one. There was stuff in the breezeways that belonged in storage, and the vending machine looked very sketchy. If they charge more, they need to make the stay worth it, otherwise lower the prices. We won’t stay again. The room was dirty, with rusted metal fixtures, water damage, and mold and mildew painted over in the bathroom. You could still see it, and not well. The carpet was filthy, the curtains and chair were stained, and the washcloths had yellow stains, like smoking linens had been washed with non-smoking ones. The room also had a lingering smell of having been a smoking room. The door didn’t latch properly. The front desk said it was updated, but the hair dryer was old and didn’t work, and the outlet for my straightener didn’t work either. We arrived late and were put in a smoking room. I went to the front desk to get it fixed. She tried to say that was what we’d reserved and that her manager was moving people around. I showed her my confirmation for a non-smoking room, and she moved us. That part was fine.

I’ve been coming to Brownsville, Texas since the late 1970s, when my parents had a winter mobile home at Palm Recaca Park. On those drives through Eastern Texas toward South Texas, we’d stop in places like Texarkana, Lufkin, Forest City Arkansas, or Houston, but Marshall usually wasn’t our stop. I’d been here before to eat or get gas, and my parents once told me they stopped here in the 1980s. This time I liked it a lot. It may be my first real stay in Marshall. I’ve been at the Quality Inn Marshall Texas for a week, resting while I finish some strong antibiotics. The room has been comfortable and clean since last Monday. Maod just cleaned it very nicely, washing surfaces, the bathroom, tub, and sink, vacuuming and wiping things down, and even cleaning the air conditioner filters. The floor looks fresher now. Breakfast has been great too, with hot eggs, toast, and waffles. Thanks to the nice staff and for keeping the areas clean. The walkways and sidewalks here are very clean, including outside the rooms, much nicer than at the Days Inn down the road, where the outdoor sidewalks had dried spills. Both motels are comfortable, and both are very clean. I recall Dominos Pizza being hit by a tornado off 59. Whataburger has always been great here, including when Mom and I stopped in. We’ve also gone to the state park and forest trails off road 49 for little scenic drives around the area. My name’s Dan, from Blue Island, Highland Indiana, in the Chicago area.

We had a great stay overall. The room was clean, comfortable, and updated, and the a/c worked great. The only nuisance was that the lettering was missing from the unit, so setting it was a guessing game. I’d come back.
