Hampton Inn & Suites Kansas City-Merriam

The room was clean but pretty small. Breakfast had nice extras: the cut fruit was great, and the oatmeal and waffles had toppings that made it better than usual. The eggs, potatoes, and sausages changed each day, which I appreciated. The shower water was lukewarm rather than hot, and the bath had no stopper. I asked about it, but even 14 hours later there was no stopper or promised callback.

That cleaning or carpet disinfectant smell was so strong it gave me a headache. I had to sleep with the window open and take an allergy pill. They really need to replace the carpet and paint, and update the hotel.

There’s no hot tub, it’s been cemented over, so don’t trust the pictures. The whole place reeks of Glade plug-ins, and the workout room smells like rubber. Breakfast wasn’t good either: dried-out, hard chicken sausages even though we got there a little after 7, and only canned fruit in sugary syrup. We’re paying almost the same as at okana water park in Oklahoma City, which is obviously much nicer. Not worth staying here unless those things don’t bother you.

I’ve stayed here off and on since around May 2025, and the staff have always been great, from the front desk to housekeeping. I have three kids and they love staying here.
