The Ashe Farm Bed & Breakfast

My husband is an early riser, and when he got up before breakfast he was told not to disturb the guests who were sleeping. He also had to go downstairs to get a drink so he could take his medicine, since drinks aren’t allowed in the rooms. We only saw the hostess, Sandy, while she was loading the dishwasher after breakfast, and she was very sweet. The room was small, with no restroom in it, and we had to share the bath and shower area with another couple. There was very little privacy for a romantic getaway. It might work for one person, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a couple looking for romance.

I’d been looking forward to the stay, but my plans changed. I booked through booking.com and understood there would be a cancellation fee. The email said Ashe farms refused to let the fee be reduced. I’m unhappy with how this went and won’t give them my business in the future. I hope they treat customers better in person.

We followed the signs for the antique store, but a rude man greeted us and asked what we were doing there. Apparently only guests are allowed to browse and shop, though there are signs all around saying there’s an antique store. My husband and I didn’t know that was how they ran the business, and the owners weren’t friendly. There also isn’t much to do in the area. I wouldn’t recommend going or return myself.

The 10 acre garden is lit up at night and looks magical. Roger was so generous to share his lovely home and antiques with us. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with homemade scones, for heaven’s sake!
