Economy Inn Motel

The room size, location, and cleanliness were fine, but we found bed bugs in two of the rooms we stayed in. When we told the owner, they said, and I quote, "No, no we dont have bed bugs, its you!!" You’ll pay for a room and get bitten by parasitic insects repeatedly at night, then end up with itchy welts all over. Do not stay here.

For one night it was okay, but I wouldn’t want to stay longer. The room smelled musty and moldy, and the headboard wasn’t attached to the bed. Some things looked newer, like the carpeting, curtains, microwave, and fridge. The bathroom walls and floor also looked newer, but the grout around the tub hadn’t been kept up and looked moldy. Mostly cosmetic updates.

The owner was extremely friendly, but the stay was awful. I paid $50 for one night in September while the plumbing in my house was being fixed, with my four-year-old and newborn. The room was gloomy and outdated, smelled overwhelmingly of mold, and the carpet, bed, and curtains were damp. There was previous tenants’ hair in the tub, very low water pressure, and the toilet barely flushed. I also found a large dead cockroach on the floor, plus an empty condom wrapper and cigarette pack under the bed. The TV had no cable or basic channels, just a blue screen on every channel. I was appalled to pay $50 for a damp, moldy room with no television or entertainment. I didn’t tell the man at the desk because it was late, my kids were tired and fussy, and I wanted to sleep and get home as soon as possible. I was also worried the mold and dampness could cause spores to grow in my newborn’s lungs. I’m low maintenance and have stayed in worse motels, but I’m mostly writing because of the price and the lack of any TV. This should be criminal. I likely would have received better service at the House of Compassion without spending $50. I’m a disabled single mother of two, and I’d strongly recommend staying anywhere else rather than at the Economy inn. It’s a scam for the price, and the cleaning staff need better training. This motel was very nice ten years ago. I’d recommend even the Flamingo motel over this place. At least you’ll get to watch TV.

The location was good, the price was reasonable, and the Wi-Fi worked. But the TV didn’t, and the room was cold because the door let in a draft. The heater barely helped, and I could literally see my breath.
