I’ve stayed here a few times, but this visit was a letdown. The TV wouldn’t work, and at 11:15 pm they offered to send someone up. I was already in bed and had wanted to watch it from there. The window blinds also wouldn’t work, so there wasn’t much privacy or darkness. They did replace the burned-out bulbs when I asked, though I think those should have been fixed before the room was rented. I have other options, so I won’t be back.
The staff are a big part of why we enjoy staying and playing at Hollywood. They’re friendly and helpful, and the rooms are consistently clean and stocked. I just wish they shared more on social media so we could hear about upcoming events, new restaurants, or promotions. We love Hollywood.
Parking is easy, and getting here from the highway is simple. I don’t play slots, so I can’t say much about them, but I liked walking around the casino. It felt almost like two places: a larger, more social side with groups, drinks, slots, and people hanging out at the bar, plus a quieter area where the RunGood Series was held and where I spent most of my time. The bartenders were really cool, too. I was here for a RunGood Poker Series event last year, and I may come back for the same event. It depends on my finances, so it’s 50/50. I wouldn’t return to a poker room or series I didn’t like, and I had an excellent experience here. It isn’t especially exciting, so if that’s what you want, the Horseshoe down the road may suit you better. Hollywood Casino has a relaxed, middle-class feel that I enjoy. That goes for both the staff and the patrons. You don’t run into many pretentious jerks or low-vibrational people here. The noodle bar was the best I’ve had at any casino. The sports bar food seemed average, but the friendly staff and atmosphere made up for it. It’s a nice place for a beer and burger and some downtime. I skipped the fancy Italian restaurant because I’m not wealthy right now. I’ve been both wealthy and poor, and at the moment I’m in the middle. If I splurge, it’ll be on a poker tournament or concert, though other poker players told me the Italian place is superb. This isn’t my favorite casino, but it’s in the top half. Maybe I’ll see you again, maybe not. Still 50/50. Recommended.
We had friends coming together for a birthday, but the night went badly when security took my fiancé’s license and said he was on a watch list. They wouldn’t return his ID, even after we asked whether it was a police matter and were told it wasn’t. I have the whole thing on video. Then they told us everything was fine and we could go, but that didn’t make it okay. There was mold in the sink, too. This establishment is a joke, and it was the worst experience of my life.
We came for a show last night and had a really good stay. The shuttle was quick and efficient, and the casino was nice. Signing up came with great perks, including $50 in free play for me. Our room was clean and pleasant, and I especially liked that it had no carpet. Check-in was smooth and fast, and the person who helped us was extremely friendly and nice. I’d expected much worse after reading the reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised. We’re already making plans to come back.
