They take security very seriously, which can feel like a bit much at times, but these days I’d rather stay somewhere more vigilant. The people running the place provide great service and management. I was in a difficult spot and couldn’t find an apartment that would take me and my girlfriend. They gave us a clean, safe, comfortable roof over our heads, and I’m really grateful. We’re moving into our apartment next weekend, and I can see why businesses use this place for traveling employees. Very thankful. 🙏

The rooms are in rough shape. They claim the place was renovated, but the only thing in our room that seemed new was the refrigerator. The microwave looks like it’s from the early 90s, there’s a dated hair dryer and no iron or hangers, and the fixtures are rusty. The pillows are tiny, yellow, and lumpy. One side of the bathtub plunger was stuck up, so I couldn’t take a bath and had to shower. I’ve attached photos showing the outdated microwave, rust on both bedside lamps, and the pillows. The service was just as bad. The woman working there, whose name I think was Ashley or something like that, was rude, condescending, and unprofessional. You can’t enter through the front door because it stays locked, and the side doors are locked too, so you need a key. There were notes posted around the small lobby area. If you stay for an extended period, you only get clean sheets every two weeks. Towels are available Monday through Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and you can’t ring the bell for help during certain hours. If you order food, you have to wait outside because delivery people can’t enter the hotel. There were also signs about not smoking marijuana in rooms, with a warning that anyone caught would be kicked out, and caution tape on doors marked out of order. I would have taken pictures of those signs too, but I just wanted to get out of there that morning. There’s a $250 deposit, and Choice backs this establishment. If I could give it negative 100, I would. It’s ridiculous how this place is run.

The room at Suburban Studios Mason Hwy 42 was comfortable, clean, and had what I needed for a longer stay. Free parking and reception open around the clock made things convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I felt safe during my visit. Mason is known as one of Ohio’s safest cities, with quiet neighborhoods and low crime rates. There are shops, restaurants, entertainment, and local attractions nearby, which are easy to reach. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone after a comfortable, safe, and affordable stay in the area.

It’s not a great place, though it may be fine if you’re only in the room to sleep and are out most of the day. After checking out, I got an emailed receipt saying my $250 deposit had been refunded, but I’m still waiting for the money. Make sure you get your deposit back. If it doesn’t come through, call every day until it does.
