Clarion Pointe Mattoon near University

I've always thought this was a great place, with clean rooms and great staff. A guest I brought got me banned after hair dye ended up all over the bathroom. Be careful who you let into your room, because it comes back on you. Lesson learned. Still a great place, five stars.

The rooms were nice and clean, and the staff were polite and accommodating. It was better than I expected for the price. We had about 12 rooms for our group and stayed three nights, but were asked to leave instead of being offered a later checkout. That's the only reason I didn't give five stars.

The room and hotel were clean, and the staff were nice both when we checked in and the next morning. We only needed a room for one night and asked if any were available. The woman at the front desk was really helpful, including with dinner suggestions. She recommended The Alamo, and the food was delicious. I'd definitely stay here again.

The new room was fine, though it had a table splattered with paint, I assume. I took photos and videos to show it wasn't us, since the front desk attendant had already been accusatory. We asked to switch after finding mold growing on one bed and a blood stain on the room's chair. When she came to look at the mold, she said, “honey, it's only on the mattress protector.” I still didn't feel comfortable, and she then asked if someone had been smoking in the room. No one in my party ever smokes. I had called politely to ask for another room, and she had initially said yes over the phone.
