Hilton Garden Inn Mattoon, Il

The front desk check-in person, Amir, was very pleasant. The hotel was quiet, the pool was nice, and there are lots of food and shopping options nearby. The location is great. The room was clean and inviting, and the shower was clean too. I always bring a flashlight to check for bed bugs and bodily fluids, and thankfully there were no bugs or fluids. The bed was comfortable, though very high for someone who's only 5'1" like me, and the pillows were okay. There was hair under the bathroom vanity, and they don't provide many towels or washcloths. There's a desk where you can work on a laptop and a comfy corner chair with a table. The room also had a mini Keurig with a nice selection of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, plus a microwave, mini fridge, ironing board, decent closet space, and a full-length mirror. The bathroom had a blow dryer and dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. I was nervous after reading the negative reviews, but my company had made the reservation and I was pleasantly surprised overall. The company paid $10 for breakfast. If I had to pay, I'd have gone to the Cracker Barrel down the street. It was powdered eggs, sausage, biscuits hard as rocks, and gravy, definitely not worth the money. There was a waffle machine, but the serving utensils were gross, the available food had greasy lids, and there was no coffee until we asked for it.
