Relax Inn & Suites

They charge $30 more than the website price. The WiFi didn’t work, so I had to use my own. The TV and bed were awful, with just a sheet, a thin flat cover, and flat pillows. When I asked for clean towels, I never got any. There were roaches in my room, and there was no coffee pot, alarm clock, or telephone, just two outlets. The way they treat housekeeping is very disrespectful too. I’ve stayed in shady places, but this is at the top of my list. I’d give it zero stars if I could, and strongly recommend never staying here.

Water poured down the walls, forming big puddles by the doorway and running into the rest of the room. We had very few outlets and only half a roll of toilet paper. Nobody checked whether we needed housekeeping, and we never got clean towels. It smelled horrible and was filthy, with unclean sheets. This was the worst three-day stay I’ve ever had.

At first the staff were nice and reasonable, but after we’d been there more than a day they talked badly about us, overcharged us, and acted like we were behind on payments when we weren’t. My son is autistic and they made fun of him. If you have a disabled child and don’t want staff mocking them, don’t stay here. The floor in our room was dirty too. I’d give it no stars if I could.

My group of 15 fit comfortably in the suite, and at $300 it was a real bargain. The holes in the blankets kept me from overheating, and the piano in the courtyard was a nice amenity. It felt so safe that I didn’t mind that the doors didn’t lock. The room was so spacious only four of us had to sleep on the floor. There was a five-star continental breakfast within walking distance. Easily one of the best resorts I’ve stayed at. I don’t think I’ll be the same after this 10/10 experience. If you want the Ritz Carleton of Matoon, stay here.
