Suite Dreams Hotel

The owner is super friendly, but I think they’ve taken on more than they can handle. I remember this place from childhood, when it was the Holiday Inn and a really nice place to go. Now the room smelled moldy, the bathroom door needs replacing, and the mattress covers were filthy. There appeared to be mold on the air conditioner. The pool area was leaking, and water dripped on my son’s head. The owner’s reply says breakfast was open from 6:30 to 10, but that’s a lie. My family and another family went down at 7:00 and it wasn’t open. We left around 7:30 and it was still closed. Two kids went through another door in the dark and found nobody there. They advertise free hot breakfast, but it was closed. I’ll never stay here again. Honestly, the place needs to shut down.

Suite Dreams Hotel in Mattoon, IL was a pleasant surprise for the price. The property was clean and well kept, and felt welcoming as soon as I walked in. The lounge and atrium-style pool area gave it a relaxing, upscale feel without the high price. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, and bringing my pet along was stress-free since they’re pet-friendly. It’s a gem for the money. I’d gladly stay again, and recommend Suite Dreams if you’re passing through Mattoon or want an affordable weekend getaway.

Traveling with dogs, I don’t expect luxury. I just want a comfortable room with what I need, and this was great value. The dated room had tile floors throughout, which were hard on the feet but worked well for pets. There was a tiny fridge, a good air conditioner, even a small microwave I didn’t need, and a clean shower with good water pressure. The room was decently spacious for a king. The private entrance and nearby grass made dog walks easy. The area felt safe and was well lit, with McDonald's, Walmart, Dunkin, shops, and restaurants close by. The towel peacock on the bed when we arrived made me smile and showed they were trying. It’s also close to Arthur and Casey for fun travel.

Check-in was quick when I arrived at 8pm on 2/20/25, but the room was only 50 degrees and it was 12 degrees outside. I turned on the heat, but only lukewarm air came out. After an hour the room had reached 58 degrees, still too cold to sleep. They offered me another room, but I wasn’t confident it would be any better. I asked for a refund and was told they’d have to ask “the boss.” Nobody explained who I could contact or what would happen next. I left for another motel, willing to lose more money because of the poor quality. Three days later, I still hadn’t heard from anyone about the refund or the problems. The very old mattress had many black stains, the lamp was just an exposed bulb, the floor had lots of stains, and there was a hard-to-describe unpleasant smell. You don’t need to save $30 badly enough to choose this hotel over others nearby.
