The Evergreen Hotel

The pool and hot tub were both great, and they didn't feel dirty or gross. Our double queen room had a seating area and enough space for our small family of three. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the whole hotel feels newly remodeled, fresh, and clean. Everyone on staff was welcoming and friendly. We had a really good stay and would come back to McCall and stay here again.

The room was comfortable, the decor and specialty lighting were updated, and I liked the location. I also enjoyed the pool and hot tub area, with its stone and wood design and low lighting, though the hot tub was about 6 or 8 degrees too cold. Everyone I spoke to thought it wasn't nearly hot enough. Housekeeping never came during my 4-day stay. A note at the front desk said service was by request, so I asked after two days. The desk clerk seemed unsure what I meant but said it was taken care of. It never happened. It wasn't a huge deal, but housekeeping is a basic part of a hotel stay, so that was a miss. The Cedars Lounge is inviting and nicely decorated, and the food was pretty good for breakfast or an occasional dinner or late bite. But the schedule was confusing. A card in each room said it opened at 6:30 AM daily, while the door sign said 7 AM. In four days, it opened at 7 only once. One day it didn't open until 7:20, and another day it was open but the coffee and food weren't ready, delaying service by about 10 minutes. It seemed like Lounge staff might also have hotel duties, so it's hard to tell what's going on. The hotel side is pretty good, but the Cedars Lounge is a big letdown and a missed opportunity. If it ran more smoothly, the whole Evergreen Hotel stay would be much better.

The staff were great, informative, and helpful, and I liked the rooms. The pool and hot tub were nice too. There's no microwave in the room, which was inconvenient, though each floor has a shared one. The lower level hallway carpets could use cleaning. I'd definitely stay at the Evergreen again.

The cafe is spacious and comfortable, with a great spread of breakfast goodies and sandwiches at lunch. The staff there were friendly and helpful, as were the responsive front desk team. We had a great stay, and the room was fantastic. The one drawback was a bright light on the neighboring hotel building that stayed on all night. Our room had no night shades or drapes to block it. Add either to the window and this would be a full 5-star room.
